The preconceptions of how that kind of content is displayed

This must be considered, as this will be the user's expectation, and thus we must be conscious as designers when we're following and also when we are breaking the rules. There are preconceptions about what e.g. newspapers are, what they look like, how they function, what they are about etc. This obviously creates the context in which we are designing.
